I am a graduate student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, pursuing a MA in Student Services Administration. I volunteer in my church choir and sing professionally at another parish not far from where I live. Music has always been a passion of mine and I have been playing guitar for about 11 years, being self-taught from the age of 12.
“The Promise,” was written about three years ago when I found out that the mother of a friend of mine was diagnosed with terminal small cell carcinoma of the lungs. She was given 18 months to live. Kelly was not just a friend’s mom, she often acted as a second mother to my brother who has lost his way a few times. As such a pivotal part of his life, Kelly is an important person in my life as well. It has been over three years since the new broke about her diagnoses, and Kelly is still with us, in remission and living peacefully in Florida.
