I am a 6 year survivor of endometrial cancer, which was finally diagnosed in October 2007 and I received chemo and 28 radiation treatments the spring of 2008. Today I am a “Walking Miracle”, as I had prior to cancer, a bladder condition prior to cancer diagnosis. But God blessed me with wonderful family and friends to support me and the best doctors and nurses and treatments!! I am a retired nurse (retired early due to health).
The song was originally a poem 2010, which I recited numerous times locally. I am a lifelong pianist/poet/songwriter, so I put this to music and it was used in the 2012 El Paso Komen Race for breast cancer. Today it is background music on a video I did exhibited on the Gallery of Survivors Dana-Farber site last spring.
As a nurse I saw and cared for so many patients with so many types of cancer, but my love for the children battling neuroblastoma is a huge cause for me. I met a 3-year-old visiting my area when I was going through chemo and he became my cause. He lives in Mattoon, IL, is now 9-years-old and I wrote a lullaby for him as well.
